Who provides my Noddle credit report?
Noddle is a part of the CallCredit Information Group and it is they who will provide you with the credit report.
Is the credit report really free?
Yes. Noddle provides free credit reports to all of their active users. Their definition of an “active user” is somebody who has been logged into their account at least once in the last three months. They provide this service as they believe that it is important information which everybody should have easy access to. Unless these service is discontinued, all customers will have access to their credit report for free.
How many times can I look at my report?
As the service is completely free, customers may access their credit report whenever they please. However, it is important to keep in mind that these reports are updated on a monthly basis. It is therefore possible that you will not be able to see some of the most recent changes. If you urgently need to see it updates, you can pay £2 to see it right away, rather than waiting until the next montly update.
What is my Noddle score and rating?
Noddle have a credit score system which scores people out of 710. People are rated out of 5. Credit scores are determined based on a person’s financial history. Instances of borrowing money and other things like that will all have an impact. Your credit score will determine how the likelihood of lenders providing you with financial service. Somebody with a low credit score is less likely to be given a loan or a credit card. However, it is important to keep in mind that a high credit score will not automatically gain people’s approval and nor will a low credit score lead to automatic rejection. There are many factors at play, of which your credit score is just one.
What personal information do Noddle hold about me on my credit report?
Everything you can see on your report is what Noddle have access too. They do not have access to information on things such as criminal records, which can remain confidential.
Is it possible to be black listed?
Businesses in the financial industry do not blacklist individuals. Noddle provide factual information and nothing else. Certainly not anything which could result in a customer being black listed.
How long does it take for Noddle to update their records?
The information comes from businesses which are external to Noddle. They provide updated information to Noddle once a month and Noddle, in return, update your credit report once a month.
Why don’t some of my credit accounts appear on my credit report?
Noddle get their information directly from the lenders. If anything is missing, it is because they have not provided the information. Some businesses will only supply the most basic details about the credit accounts of their customers.
What do I do if my report contains a company I don’t recognise?
This needn’t be a cause for concern. Sometimes businesses provide information on behalf of other businesses. It is likely that the business which you don’t recognise the name of is, in fact, just working on behalf of a business which you would recognise instantly.
How does Noddle make its money?
Noddle offers comparisons on different credit cards and loans which are checked against a customer’s credit report. This often encourages customers to apply for one of those credit cards or to take out a loan. In these instances, Noddle are given a commission by the business whose loan or credit card a customer decided to get.
Can anybody search my credit report?
Your credit report can be searched by businesses who need to know about your credit history. However, you have full control over who can access this and Noddle will not distribute it to other businesses. If you are concerned that you can see a search was conducted by a business you don’t recognise, this was mostly likely just a subsidiary of a business you do know and trust (and whose presence on this list would not be suspicious.)
How long are searches kept on a credit report?
Noddle keeps searches on your credit report for twenty-four months. Lenders can see the searches that have been conducted by other businesses but don’t know why they conducted the search and what came of it.
What is the Short Term Loans information on my credit report?
This contains information related to your credit report which is updated on a more timely basis than your monthly update. It means that certain lenders can access recent significant information regarding any money lending.
Why have I been turned down for credit?
There are many reasons that you may have been turned down for credit and you must not be disheartened. If it is important to you that you know the reason, you can ask the lender directly to give you a reason for your rejection. They should then give you the reason for your having been turned down. As all financial businesses do things differently, just because one has turned you down, it does not mean that all others will do the same.
Will my credit report show when I have been rejected?
No. While there will be a record (for up to twenty-four months) that they have searched your credit report, their conclusion and decision to reject you will remain unknown.
Could I have been turned down because of a previous occupant at my address?
No. While they need to know your address, previous occupants of that address will have no bearing on whether or not you are accepted. The only time another person can affect your credit report is when they have a joint bank account, joint mortgage or any other financial association with you such as that.
How can I improve my credit score?
There are several different things you can do to try and improve your credit score. Here are a few tips:
- Check your credit report regularly.
- Pay all credit agreements and utility bills on time.
- Close the accounts and financial products which you no longer use.
- Make sure you are on the electoral roll for your address.
- Use a Notice of Correction.
What is a Notice of Correction?
A Notice of Correction allows people to explain reasons for their late payments on bills and other similar payments. If, for example, you were unable to make a payment because you were in an accident and had to go to hospital, that would be reasonable ground for it not to effect your credit score. A Notice of Correction can give some context to things which might look bad without them.
Why are other people’s details on my credit report?
If somebody else’s information is on your credit report, the reason will be that you must have been financially associated with them in the past or present. This can include joint bank accounts and joint mortgages.
How do I take somebody else’s details off my credit report?
When viewing your credit report, you will see an option that says “Connections and Other Names” click here and then provide your reason as to why a certain person shouldn’t be left on your credit report. This can include can include removing ex-partners who you are no longer associated with. Once you’ve provided this information, Noddle will get in touch with the lender and alert them to this change of circumstance.
What is identity theft?
This is when somebody misuses the details of another person for their own gains. For example, sometimes somebody will purchases good and services in the name of somebody else. This is completely illegal.
What is identity fraud?
This is when a stolen identity I used for criminal activities. For example, if somebody were to use your identity to get themselves a driving license or passport. This just as much a crime as identity theft.
How can I tell if I am the victim of identity theft or fraud?
As fraudsters use very advanced methods to obtain people’s personal details, it is something which could happen to anyone. Here are a few warning signs to look out for?
- You are no longer receiving bank or credit card statements.
- You notice unusual payments on your bank statement.
- A debt collection agency contacts you about money owed which you know nothing about.
- You are called and told that you have been accepted for (or declined) financial services which you never applied for.
How can I protect myself from identity fraud?
If you believe that your details have been stolen or that you are at risk, then you can contact CIFAS, the UK’s fraud protection service. They will set up “Protective Registration” around your account which will alert lending businesses as to your concerns. Then, if they receive an application from “you” they will carry out additional checks to confirm that it is genuinely you. This service can be set up for the price of a small administration fee. What should I do if I am the victim of identity theft?
If you are the victim of identity theft, you should immediately get in touch with the business that you believe is giving money to the business who is fraudulently using your identity. They will stop the person from being able to do any more and this period of activity will be removed from your credit history so that you will not suffer from any long term effects as a result of their actions.
What should I do if there is incorrect information on my report?
If you think that something on your report is incorrect, the first thing to keep in mind is that the reports are updated on a monthly basis. It is possible that a significant new addition has simply not been added yet. If you are concerned that this is not the case and the information is definitely incorrect, then you can either contact the business who provided that information directly or you can contact Noddle and have them resolve the issue on your behalf
