About Direct Line
Direct Line Insurance Group are a UK based company offering all different types of insurance like life insurance, home insurance, travel insurance and lots more. The company was formed in 2012 when The Royal Bank of Scotland Group insurance division went through divestment and was offered to the public. The company owned many insurance subsidiaries like Churchill, Green Flag and Direct Line.
Direct Line was established in 1985 by Peter Wood and Martin Long as part of The Royal Bank of Scotland. /in 2012 the company announced that Direct Line will become its own stand-alone company and RBS slowly sold shares in the company, until in 2014 they no longer owned any part of the company.
Direct Line specialises in selling insurance and other financial services to its customers and they operate directly over the telephone and the internet. In 2012, Direct Line became one of the biggest companies within the Direct Line Insurance Group. The company operates in the UK, Japan and Spain.

Breakdown
Direct Line offers breakdown cover to get customers back on the roads as quick as possible. Breakdown insurance covers drivers against misfuelling their car and spontaneous breakdowns. The company offer personal cover meaning that your car is covered no matter who is driving it, family cover which covers up to three extra members of your household and short-term European cover for those that like to travel.
You can get assistance at the side of the road or at your home and if your car cannot be fixed, they will take you and your car to the closest garage for repairs.
Car Insurance and Accident Cover
You can get comprehensive cover for your vehicle giving you guaranteed car hire, seven-day car repairs, 24/7 accident recovery helpline, windscreen cover, damage to third party property and lots more. Direct Line offers customers the chance to customise their policy to suit individual needs. Customers can add optional extras to comprehensive cover for a small fee.
Make a Claim
In the unfortunate event of an accident, you will need to make a claim with Direct Line. For general claims, you will need to contact Direct Line using the phone number above to start your claim. You will be asked for some personal details and a description of the damage to your car and details of the incident. From here, a customer service advisor will be able to direct you on the next steps of the process.
For all emergency accidents and recovery, customers need to call Direct Line using the 24-hour accident recovery helpline and outline details of the accident. If protected by comprehensive insurance, you will only have to pay the excess outlined in your agreement. The customer service department will be able to direct you on what will happen next.

Can I cancel my Direct Line insurance policy?
Yes you can cancel your insurance policy at any time. Simply call Direct Line on the telephone number above and let a member of the team know. You can also suspend your policy for a period of time if you meet the specific criteria like you have had an accident and you no longer have a car. If this applies to you, contact the customer service department today.
You can cancel your car insurance if you cancel within the 14-day cooling-off period, or from the time you start receiving your documents.
What do I need to do if my details have changed?
If any of your details has changed, you will need to update Direct Line as soon as possible. Call customer services on the contact number above and inform them of any changes to your details.
I have a tracker fitted to my car, will I get a discount on my car insurance?
Unfortunately, you will not get a discount on your car insurance policy if you have a tracker fitted to your car. There are certain vehicles that require a tracking device to be fitted in order for your cover to be provided. If this is required for your policy, you will be prompted during the quote process.
Can I view my car insurance policy online?
Unfortunately, there is no way for you to view your policy online within ‘Policy & Quote Manager’. If you would like to view your policy and do not have access to the original copy then contact Direct Line on the phone number above.
